Happy green roofers – with Building Green and Organic Roofs

Building Green and Organic Roofs hosted another crew of enthusiastic eco warriors in May, on the green roof training course we run with Brighton Permaculture Trust.

We had talks, project consultancy, green roofed bird house building, and tours of Madeira Drive historic green wall, Crew Club wildflower green roof and Level Cafe green roof in the centre of town.

Here are some pictures – they speak for themselves!

We are planning something even bigger and better next time, so watch this space.

‘Do it yourself’ a green roof this weekend!

Hurry to grab one of the final places on this weekend’s Green Roof course, led by Building Green and Organic Roofs with Brighton Permaculture Trust.

Learn the why and what, and practice the how by making your very own green roofed bird box to take away. Enjoy the harbourside location in Shoreham and view the green roof lab and installations there. Question the experts, and use the opportunity to get some consultancy on your project. Visit some inspirational sites in Brighton & Hove to get you fired up for ‘doing it yourself’ this year!

We will also cover green walls – and can tailor the content of the teaching to your needs.

This is the 10th year of the course, and always popular. Bookings can be made through the Brighton Permaculture Trust here.

DIY green roof workshop a success!

This weekend’s DIY Green Roof workshop was a real success!

We had participants from Brighton & Hove and further afield across the country…and a keen Spanish green roofer who travelled over from Córdoba!

We discussed the fine points of projects on sheds, house extensions and even a Dutch barge.

Everyone put their learning into practice by building their own green roofs and installing them on a bird box they also put together.

The second day was a tour of some green roofs and green walls.
